Choosing YOU
Is what you need to do.
While listening to other points of view,
Opposing opinions may spew and askew.
You may simply respond with a kind “thank you,”
Or perhaps a curt “adieu.”
They have their own agenda
Their own world view
That they hope you will live up to.
It’s not your responsibility, nor your purview
If you really want an elephant tattoo,
That is strictly up to you!
You do not need to enlist a permission crew!
Nor does your preference require a judicial review
If you really want blue,
Do not choose pink in order to subdue
Another person…who is not YOU!
Choosing you…is long overdo!
