What’s with all the body shame?
Who signed us up for this ridiculous game?
Why should we aspire to look the same?
Where did we inherit this habit so lame?
We think it’s our fault-we’re to blame
And yet the system creates a suffocating frame
To achieve a certain look-that will bring us fame
This is a lofty, spotty and faulty claim
That causes many young women their bodies to maim
The media takes no responsibility-in fact they disclaim
Their role in creating this futile, imaginary dame
Advertisements, and social media only serve to inflame
A notion that we need to conform, contort, even tameT
his crazy shame game-we get to rename
It’s time we finally exclaim..
Our bodies are the perfect shape for us –
Self love and acceptance are the new ball game
Making peace with ourselves can lead to peace in the world
This is the goal for which we can aim!
A notion worthy of nobel monumental acclaim!
Our bodies are unique and beautiful
So much freedom to reclaim
Our acceptance and self love is ours to proclaim!
