Why do we wait so long before we celebrate

Why do we wait

So long before we celebrate

Our wins, and what we create

I have a few thoughts

I might even speculate

Of when and where this pattern did originate

Certainly our generation it does predate

We believe we have to be the best

Or at least really great

We have a tendency to conflate

Our height

Weight

And Birthdate

Our accumulated real estate

Our bank accounts and their current state

With our value and worth

We forget to separate

Our doing from our Being

We allow our egos to inflate

And then we so readily take the bait

Of the current cultural mandate

I might even say dictate

The

”one more thing”

We hesitate

And then…

It’s too late

Not sure if anyone else can relate

Our work and play we striate

Fun must another day wait

Always too many things on our plate

Our spirit wanting our attention

Eventually becomes irate

Then ensues the inner debate

I will attempt to translate….

The spirit yearns to roller skate

While the ego insists the house be

Immaculate

The longing from our spirit

Eventually becomes sedate

To tolerate

Does not mean to accept

Our fun and freedom we cannot prorate

How long will we procrastinate?

We need a clean slate

Can we together donate

An afternoon together

For a values update?

I promise…

I won’t be late!
