All the greed

At times I just can’t take the greed

People confusing want with need

An insatiable appetite people are trying to feed

Living life at an impossible speed

Doing everything to externally succeed

Forgetting our limits. Our internal voice may plead.

This lust for the material can’t help but supersede

 Our connection 

 With others- 

It simply  isn’t guaranteed.

If we focus on having more and more ….we are sure to exceed 

The planets limits and the forests treed

We can’t possibly survive on smoking weed

And harvesting more and more sea weed

We are risking a metaphoric earth nose bleed

We selfishly fight the restrictions that might impede

Our earning money at interest rates guaranteed

We want our freedom.

At any cost.

Our rendering of freedom has been become an instagram feed

Having more is no “balm of Gilead”

We have through our actions agreed

To these values that we blindly breed

In many discussions I have disagreed

We need a new definition of what it means to succeed

Who is going to take the lead?

Who has the power to intercede?

How will we proceed?

To change our selfish ways-we yearn to be freed!

To challenge our ways from what has been culturally decreed

May we have the courage to change our ways.

To avoid what has been prophesied. 

Let’s choose love and generosity over greed!
